this record tells the story of a detroit groove from the perspective of the speaker, taking you through time from luomo s to the hardware syst3m parties, and the first leaky warehouse roof no way back where dean syst3m worked the door, with all the disrespectful nature one would naturally expect from a true detroit groove. created by two veterans of detroit grooves, bmg & derek plaslaiko, who now calls berlin home, in bmgs studio in the center of detroit. this song celebrates some of the out there characters and crazy cowboy outlaws that made this detroit scene happen on the underground level, that made such an impact that is still felt around the world today.

shadow movement is a project which started in 2012. after working as solo artists, both rafael and raul decided to share their ideas in a new experience. from house to techno, at this new stage they seek to take their music, loaded with melody and breakthrough content, to the next level.

berliners dirk leyers and nomad expressed their hard earned musical freedom in a dogma: the use of a roland tr-808 analog drum machine in every single track. they programmed the machine to lay poly-rhythms over multicultural drum and percussion tracks, fascinated -and sometimes puzzled- by its own characteristically sudden swing and accent changes, and named it: africaine 808 - their third and first female band member. in the first year of their musical joint venture, the three spent quite some time in remixing and editing some of their favourite african and island funk tunes, transforming the old gold into modern dj and dancefloor friendly tunes. the sound of organic grooves mixed with 808-beats and analogue synthesizer basslines became soon a trademark sound, and more and more samples got replaced by live played guitar, bass, organ and percussion. the trio experimented with different tempos and styles ranging from slow cumbia and exotic rumba themes to island-funk and percussive disco, electro and house. in spring 2012 they first took the project to another level, turning their tracks into a full live act at one of the vulkandance nights in berlin. today the project is growing and integrating guest musicians, drummers, percussionists and vocalists - for live performances as well as for recording in the studio. 100% sonic voodoo golf channel every time!

concealed sounds is a brand new label from the copenhagen based producer and dj martinez. the label is set up as a platform for the more deeper shade and experimental sound of techno and house music. it will feature releases by martinez himself, but also showcase some new talents as well as well known colleagues from the scene. and as the label name suggests each release will include a hidden sound, beat, groove or ambient piece. the first release comes courtesy of martinez, and its called: hollow ep. it starts off with a 14 minute piece of modern modular based techno. deep hypnotic rhythms lay down the foundation while high pitched noisy metallic sounds build over the hollow groove, before the baseline kicks in to lift everything to another level. the piece finally breaks down completely, to an almost horror-film-soundtrack like ambience before the groovy rhythms find their way back to bring the track to life again

detroit master of technosoul eddie fowlkes shows us that he can still surprise us with his original beats. influenced by soul music, in love with dance music, this powerful track is a perfect combination of his inspirations. and it really makes you want to dance and feel the music go into your ears until *something e special* gets stuck in your head for good. bringing you catchy lyrics, vibrant beats and a great kick. who else than the legendary eddie fowlkes can declare war on dance music? well, not me. the only thing to do is to follow the hypnotizing beats and sounds of this track and let our bodies go crazy. and when the backbeats hit us, it transports us to a new level where we definitely join mr fowlkes on his trip to become his allies.

those who know the respected irish producer john daly for his bubbly, melodically nuanced house and techno tracks may get thrown off balance by his latest work under the smoke clears handle. while his 2011 release for further, sea level, hinted at his fondness for manuel göttsching/klaus schulze-like kosmische ambience, on listen daly veers off into more introverted and arcane abstraction terrain. the title track kicks off the album on a decidedly downtempo, contemplative note while maintaining dalys knack for understatedly beautiful melodies. it sounds like the best song morr music never released.

it is 2013 and in this release we hear a totally new approach to sampling. a vinyl release of two artists. fitz ambro$e (cape breton island) residing intokyo, & ohbliv of richmond, virginia(usa). fitz ambro$e sound has unique influence from 90s hip hop and 80s soul, he is also affiliated with cosmopolyphonic collective in tokyo. from the record archives of his father, ohbliv developed the charm of sampling. the record is a 14 track collage of beats from two uniquely talented artists who transcend their individual musical roots. as if competeing with each other both leave the remnants of sampling material, and the method in which they cut and chop is truely an interesting work.

in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level – they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.

major people is a new label from santiago salazar. the debut track *new beginnings* is more of a theme song for salazar as he introduces the major people label. modulating synthes can be heard throughout the track and the catchy bassline will warm any dance floor.
*technik* is a slice of sleek, contemplative techno that is far out on a late-night tip, leaving only a bouncing bassline and skipping tech-house beat to hold down the groove amongst the tune’s more ethereal sounds. on the remix, chicagos defend:r (ricardo mirandas alter-ego) takes apart the original to form a hybrid electro style remix laced with sub bass grooves and just the right amount of synths to take it to the next level.
this is the beginning of much more to come from major people.

jose cabrera and fred p split the first installment of the perception series. the determinism ep sees jc and fp giving their slant on principles of quantum level events through sound. raw and driving, this ep is a more than an adequate dj tool, it is a formula for the transportation of the subconscious. determinism is a metaphysical philosophical position stating that for everything that happens there are conditions such that, given those conditions, nothing else could happen. “there are many determinisms, depending upon what pre-conditions are considered to be determinative of an event.” deterministic theories throughout the history of philosophy have sprung from diverse motives and considerations, some of which overlap. some forms of determinism can be tested empirically with ideas stemming from physics and the philosophy of physics. the opposite of determinism is some kind of indeterminism (otherwise called nondeterminism).

following on from big releases by the likes of cherie lee, the storming danse club records are back with another big house classic that comes complete with on point remixes from dutch tech house hero lauhaus, label bosses brodanse plus bass culture alumni john jastszebski whos version will be vinyl only. kalishas original is a classic house beat released on n sync inc back in 1992, but it still sounds hugely on point. with garage inflected beats, grainy, catchy percussion and pristine chord stabs it is an ebullient jam that brims with personality. the recognisable vocal samples help take it to the next level and mean it cannot fail to fill dancefloors everywhere. updating the track for modern listeners are the three remixes.

keeping up a high rate of release but just as high level of quality, the cinematic label turns to german dj, producer and exploration label boss johannes volk for its next ep, with a typically idiosyncratic remix from greek dub techno man xdb. volk has been producing conceptual techno since 2006, debuting with a fine ep on the revered axis label run by techno royalty jeff mills. since then he has continued to evolve on labels like steffis dolly as well as his own vinyl only imprint, and does so once again on this release.

denis yashin (jeudi records, thank you jack, schönbrunner perlen)arrives on metropolitan and present a nu-disco bomb with a lot of old school sounds. great remix by marvin zeyss which is confirmed at the highest level with a club version optimal for the most demanding situations. limited copies!

fabrizio maurizis unique taste resonates hugely in his remix: a computerised, robotic low frequency bounce underpins a loopy rework of the dreary vocal, bringing its more rhythmical and human elements to the fore, marrying them to the relentless beat. outstanding works, both tracks.

you would think it would get harder for wilson head honcho, fabio monesi to keep achieving the same level of refinement with each release he puts on, but truth be told is that he simply just glides right over it with the third part of the spectacular underground warriors. bringing on the heavy weight all-stars fabio monesi, transitive elements aka enrico mantini, james johnston, upswing project aka alex agore the 90s revival movement ...

old future music is an exciting new independent record label based in naples. the label prides itself on understanding and delivering quality deep house & funky music. its founding members are all specialize in various different areas of the business, from promotions to web design, from investments to industry contacts. every possible part of business/industry relation has been covered, enabling this young company to meet the same level of professionalism found in many of the already larger, long established record labels.

as apple pips continues to explore its opening mantra of echo, depth, swing and bass within the duplicitous realms of modern electronica, it welcomes to the fold two long-standing friends of the label and in turn sheds light on their own fresh avenues within house music. you might already know lrusse as id or behling, commonly found kicking up the dust alongside sam baobinga simpson in all manner of styles and tempos, while bleecker has an accomplished back-story in dubstep as wedge & through his own if symptoms persist imprint. in their new venture both producers fuse their dancefloor inclinations with more searching, experimental textures and tones, placing crafty sound design on a level pegging with the more immediate tropes of groove and presence.

since the release of his impressive debut album, rush of the moment, on our x-series, agazzi continues to deliver innovative music and to develop his sound in new directions. the album received a warm reception from the music scene and confirmed aggazi as an artist who always pushes his concept and vision to the next level. in accordance, agazzi is now experimenting with several exciting and fresh collaborations. it was from one of these collaborations that ex terrestre was born, a project that brings us 2 expansive mixes with daniele papini that re-interpret modern techno-swing. to give the boost to this ep we asked to our extremely talented sonja moonear to rework a still unreleased agazzi tracks.

revivra is back on gamm with two seriously well produced re-edits (or remixes?) on the soulful boogie tip. just like last time this is just not some quick 5 min fixes but hand crafted reworks that takes the original tracks to the next level with loads of added live elements. the a-sides take on midways set it out is so good it almost makes the original sounds like the remix. with a beautiful live string intro it explodes into a proper boogie winner that easily could have been produced by any of the big producers from late 70s. on the flip revivra goes back to his deep love for marvin with +11 min excursion of mercy mercy me. epic is an understatement!

after their hot contributions for treats vol. 2, session victim prove indeed that they are on the roll with a funkafied and no holds barred ep that pays homage to their hip-hop roots. move me so starts rather simply, with just a guitar and a vocal, but you can hear a moving bassline and distant rhodes chords creeping up from the background. two minutes into the track and theres still no kick drum, although the level of excitement produced by the magnetic groove is almost unbearable. a filtered drum break finally gives way to a four to the floor beat that should turn any dancefloor into a frenetic party. the track builds with high energy, as the pounding bassline seems to be directly lifted from an early 90s hip-hop classic. the breakdown sees the vocal/guitar loop being played differently until the second part shifts gear and brings more surprises in the mix with the intro rhodes chords coming in and out.

hayden james is a singer/songwriter and producer from sydney, australia. he makes music with organs, noisy synthesisers and guitars. this being haydens first solo project, its given him the freedom to create music that resonates on a very personal level.

for many the ultimate visionary and sonic wizard, mathew jonson delivers a rare solo album for crosstown rebels with her blurry pictures, encompassing a new evolution in his rhythmically complex and timeless approach over eight fluid and rich compositions.

detroits berlin-based jimmy edgar is on a mission to manifest dance culture on a level deeper than any bass can drop. synthesizing his passions for esoteric philosophy and 90s club music, edgar announces a new ep, label launch, and special projects with fellow multimedia mystics machinedrum and pilar zeta.
